જન્મશતાબ્દી સમિતિ

આ વર્ષ ઉમાશંકર જોશીનું જન્મશતાબ્દી વર્ષ છે. એક સાહિત્યકાર તરીકે ગુજરાતના તેમજ દેશના જાહેરજીવન સાથે અડધી સદીથી પણ વધારે સમય સુધી તેઓ સંકળાયેલા હતા. જાહેરજીવનના સામાજિક, રાજકીય અને આર્થિક સવાલો પ્રત્યેની તેમની સચિંત અને નિસબત ધરાવતા નાગરિક તરીકેની ઉલ્લેખનીય ભૂમિકા હતી.

ગુજરાતના અને દેશના નાગરિક સમાજને અનુલક્ષીને ઉમાશંકરભાઈના સાહિત્ય, જીવન, કાર્ય અને વિચારોના સંદર્ભમાં જન્મશતાબ્દી ઉજવણી માટે એક સમિતિની રચના કરવામાં આવી છે. સમિતિના ઉપક્રમે જન્મશતાબ્દી વર્ષ દરમિયાન જન્મ દિવસની ઉજવણી, એમના વિવિધ વિષયો અંગેના વિચારોનો પ્રસાર અને પુસ્તક પ્રકાશન કરવામાં આવશે.

Birth Centenary Committee

2011 is the birth centenary year of Umashankar Joshi. As a writer he was deeply concerned with the social, economic and political issues of his time. He played a significant role in the public life of Gujarat and the country for over five decades.

A committee has been formed to celebrate the centenary year to pay tribute to Umashankar Joshi's life and work. The committee will organize events with a view to present his life and work to contemporary civil society. It will also publish books which will contain his views on various issues and evaluate various aspects of his life.
